Sinopse
A well-meaning but weak-willed vicar, Mark Robarts, allows his desire for social connections to lead him into a financial quagmire that threatens his standing in the community. His folly stands in stark contrast to the integrity of his sister Lucy, whose romance with a local lord faces the fierce opposition of his protective mother. The narrative explores the consequences of living beyond one's means and the subtle dangers of vanity in a close-knit parish. Ultimately, it is a story about the courage required to admit one's mistakes and the redeeming nature of honest devotion.
